At 15 years old I was diagnosed with a hereditary form of compound scoliosis (idiopathic kyphoscoliosis) and wore a back brace until the age of 18. As a young adult, I started trying out different systems of healthcare because, short of putting a steel bar in my spine, I had done the full treatment for my problem available in modern medicine. Being in California and Oregon in the 1970’s allowed me to experience many different forms of treatments such as massage, acupuncture, naturopathy and Traditional Chinese Medicine. Many of the therapies that I tried in my 20’s helped, however, none of them lasted very long or helped in the long-term management of my problem.
By my mid-thirties I had osteoarthrosis, and the pain levels had increased. I initially began to study and use Ayurvedic medicine for myself and never imagined that it would soon become my life. Ayurveda gave me the tools to manage my degenerating spine and the pain associated with that. I began by learning and practicing ‘energetic’ methods, then external methods such as oil massage and then gradually studied the whole system with a specialization in herbal pharmacology. I became well known in the field for my work on adapting diet and Western herbs to the Ayurvedic system. In 2005, I was awarded the title of ‘Vaidya’ which is commonly used instead of the term ‘doctor’ for traditional practitioners of Ayurvedic medicine in India.
These experiences led us to Ayur~Vidya™ and why I invested years of my time to create this system. The real problem today is that there is so much wrong information, or ‘fad’ information, on the web. It is easy to get lost in what is real or not. Even medical experts in modern medicine contradict each other, so no wonder we have a hard timing sorting through the chaotic information.
Our system at Ayur~Vidya™ offers a time-proven system – adapted to modern times and foods – for the normal person, or the professional, to diagnosis and treat themselves. Ayurveda has proven the test of time-it’s been around for thousands of years! It is safe to say it is not a passing fad. It certainly has worked for me- even though my problem is not curable, I am able to manage it and live a normal life thanks to Ayurveda. I hope that everyone can benefit from the information on this website and the herbal combinations I have developed over the last 23 years to help you restore your health.
Thanks for your time in reading this,
